Considerations When Selecting Potential Participants

Considerations When Selecting Potential Participants

Normally, presenters and respondents at the Annual Meeting are ETS members. However, recognizing the value of interacting with scholars who are not part of ETS, each program unit is allowed to invite one outside participant for whom the conference registration fee will be waived. Exceptions are granted on a limited basis when a compelling case is made for the inclusion of more than one non-member in a session. Requests for an exception should be made to the PUC Chair.

If there are potential participants who are theologically aligned with ETS, consider asking them to join the Society. If you need assistance determining if a potential participant is a current member, please email meeting@etsjets.org for assistance.

When approaching current members about participating in a session, be sure to ask whether or not the participant has agreed to participate in any other sessions. Multiple participations are discouraged and frequently cause unresolvable schedule conflicts which require participants to drop out. Exceptions can be made on a limited basis, but at a minimum, the program unit should have a back up plan in mind if a desired participant is already committed to another session.
