Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Christian Studies with a focus on Christian Philosophy, Worldview and Apologetics to begin August 1, 2017. Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.

Qualifications:

A completed Ph.D. in Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion or Christian Apologetics is preferred; those who are ABD in one of these fields will also be considered. The candidate must also be an ordained Southern Baptist minister with ministerial experience. Additionally, the candidate should affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.

Responsibilities:

Duties include teaching a regular load of 12 credit hours per major semester. The candidate will be required to teach Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Christian Ethics, Christian Apologetics, Worldview, as well as core Old Testament and New Testament Survey classes. In addition to teaching duties, the candidate will serve on academic and other committees, advise undergraduate students, develop or continue an academic research plan within a discipline and execute other assignments as assigned.
