Paper Guidelines

Guidelines and Suggestions for Preparing a Paper for the Northeast Regional Meeting

1.) Pick a topic that is interesting to
you. Maybe there is something that you have wanted to study, but needed a
reason.

2.) You may want to select a topic that
relates to the general conference theme.

3.) Keep your colleagues, the community of
Evangelical scholars, in mind as you research and write your paper. This group
includes, pastors, and students and instructors at training institutions.

4.) The document should comply with the
following basic standards:

• double-spaced

• about 16 pages long

• 30 minutes to read

• 15 minutes for questions and discussion

• copies for those who attend your reading
(or send out electronic copies using a sign up sheet)

5.) If you have not read a paper before, you might want to practice reading the
paper out loud and timing yourself.

6.) If you are currently a student, see if one of your instructors will allow you
to write a paper for class that you can read for ETS. Usually your instructor’s
supervision will be quite helpful.
