Description:

Description
This paper considers how John Calvin, who has been frequently labelled “The Theologian of the Holy Spirit,” might serve as a prime dialogue partner for Pentecostalism in developing a more robust pneumatology. It argues that the Pentecostal movement, which deeply cherishes the gifts and baptism of the Holy Spirit in its theology, would be well served by deeper discussion of the Spirit’s work in areas that are often overlooked, many of which Calvin speaks to at length. In doing so, the piece engages doctrines such as sanctification, union with Christ, the Lord’s Supper, and spiritual gifts.
