Position Summary
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary announces a faculty position in the area of New Testament beginning in the fall of 2022. Candidates should have a passion for training men and women in the study and interpretation of the New Testament for ministries of preaching and teaching in a wide range of contexts around the world. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English/Spanish) and have a demonstrated capacity for academic scholarship, exemplary classroom leadership, a deep commitment to the local church, and genuine personal integrity. Above all, the candidate should exhibit a love of God and an embrace of the Gospel.

The position involves full teaching responsibilities in the Southeast region (principally Charlotte, NC) as well as attending all faculty meetings and providing advisement for Biblical Studies students. The Southeast region includes the campuses of Charlotte, NC, and Jacksonville, FL, and is distinguished within the institution for its emphasis on innovative teaching strategies that serve remote students through digital modalities. We are moving toward the development of relational, learning hubs in which faculty will teach on site at various regional locales in order to cultivate relationships with students who are clustered around these locales. Faculty are expected to thrive in digital teaching modalities and to prioritize time spent in person with students outside class.

Academic Experience
The person seeking this position should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a field related to New Testament. Scholarly participation in the field through publication is expected. Experience and exposure to seminary and church communities is very important.

Classroom Teaching
The person seeking this position must demonstrate a competence in classroom teaching. The precise courses would be chosen to reflect the particular research and experiential strengths of the professor, but the expectation is that the professor would teach both core course requirements as well as more specialized courses.

Theological Commitments
Faculty members must concur with the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Mission Statement and Commentary and must indicate agreement annually with the school’s Statement of Faith and Community Life Statement.
