Job Description
The Old Testament faculty member collaborates with the dean, other faculty members, and staff to equip Great Commission Christians for ministry in multi-cultural communities and fulfill the university’s mission of educating students from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. The faculty member pursues that mission with a commitment to CIU’s educational philosophy of total life training, integrating academic excellence, spiritual formation, and ministry skill development with Bible at the core. The faculty member focuses on teaching courses in Old Testament Introduction and Hebrew, with a course load of 21 credits per year. Area of specialization is open, but poetic or prophetic literature preferred. Support of the university mission, core values, and statement of faith is required.
Teaching Specialties and Requirements
• Knowledge of the discipline areas of Old Testament languages and literature as well as Ancient Near Eastern history, geography, and culture.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of classroom and online instructional technology.
• Skill in public speaking, teaching, and written communication.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating with and coaching adult learners as well as undergraduate students as necessary.
• Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and a collegial model of decision-making.
• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Th.D.) from an accredited institution, with content in the discipline areas to be taught; ABD will be considered.
• Experience in church-related ministry.
• Commitment to cross-cultural ministry (some cross-cultural ministry experience preferred).
• Teaching experience in theological education (preferred).
