Executive Director of Chapel Ministries

Palm Beach Atlantic University is hiring! We are looking for an Executive
Director of Chapel Ministries. This position will oversee chapel,
discipleship ministries, and engage in soul-care at a great
“Christ-first” university in sunny South Florida.

In support of the mission and vision of PBA, the Executive Director
of Chapel Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the
university’s Chapel ministry, pastoral care to the university community,
and assists with the university’s discipleship ministries.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will have a proven track
record in the following responsibilities of this position:

Leadership, Directions, and Oversight to the University’s Chapel Ministry
·Provides strategic planning and executive administration for
Chapel operations including, but not limited to: calendar development,
speaker/preacher invitations, budgeting, service and event logistics,
promotion, etc.; ensures adherence to the university’s Christ-first mission
for the entirety of the chapel experience.
·Oversees the Chapel Worship Coordinator providing supervision and
direction regarding the various elements of Chapel services.
·Oversees the Coordinator of Chapel Services in addressing matters
pertaining to: Chapel grading, recording attendance, probations, enhancing
technological efficiency of grading and video streaming when appropriate,
excellent student-care practices, etc.
·Provides leadership and mentorship for the leaders of Chapel and
Campus Ministries.
·Leads the Chapel Ministries Advisory Council comprised of a cross
section of campus leaders, including student discipleship leaders, with the
goal of ensuring that the structure, content, and design of Chapel services
are relevant and effective for communicating with and ministering to current
students, while at the same time remaining faithful to “Christ-first”
(evangelical) worship.
·Serves as Chapel preacher as needed.

Assist in Leading the University’s discipleship Ministries and Initiatives:
·Responsible for creating, executing, and managing aspects of our
discipleship ministries that focus on discipleship and spiritual formation
(recruitment and training). Ministries will include: one-on-one discipleship
amongst students, small group experiences, and discipleship opportunities
between faculty/staff and students.
·Leads efforts in equipping the university community in becoming
effective disciple makers, in soul-care, and leading Bible studies.
·Interviews, hires and coaches staff, discipleship leaders, student
staff and volunteers to become successful and contributing team members.
·Organizes Spiritual Development’s student staff, discipleship
leaders, and volunteers and structures ministry, service, and outreach
opportunities for them to make valuable contributions to the student body of
PBA.
·Organizes and participates in leadership of regular staff
meetings.
·Ensures the continued training and development of the Spiritual
Development staff, identifying areas in which staff need development and
providing coaching and/or resources as needed.

Provides Pastoral Care to the University Community
·Provides pastoral care to the university community in the form of:
shepherding, spiritual discernment, and spiritual direction that is
biblically anchored, faithful, and fully aligned with the mission and vision
of the University. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to University
procedures for screening and intake.
·Partners with the Vice President for Spiritual Development in
ensuring the community is properly cared for while also collaborating with
Health and Wellness to refer individuals requiring counseling.

REQUIREMENTS:

·A demonstrated above reproach character that is a clear
“mission-fit” with the “Christ-first” (evangelical) distinctive of
the Spiritual Development Department. Some of the necessary evangelical
requirements are included in the doctrinal statement signed by the faculty of
the School of Ministry (World Evangelical Alliance Statement)
·Demonstrated advanced biblical understanding and strong spiritual
discernment/pastoral skills.
·Requires strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills with
the ability to influence and align across a wide variety of people.
·Proven ability to skillfully interpret and parse faith and
culture.
·Proven ability to relate well with students and foster a
productive partnership with Student Development.
·Demonstrated ability to lead effectively with a reach that extends
across campus to all PBA serves, including both undergraduate and graduate
students.
·Desire to develop homiletical/teaching skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors required; Master of Divinity or Master
of Theology degree strongly preferred. 5+ years of experience
preferred in similar position with a proven track record in effective
ministry leadership/administration, organizational leadership, and preaching.
