Full-time, on-campus tenure-track faculty position to teach undergraduate Christian Studies and/or Pastoral Leadership courses on campus within the School of Arts and Sciences. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Chair of the Department of Biblical, Theological, and Ministry Studies. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Biblical, Theological, and Ministry Studies, the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Education, and Vocational Ministry, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Teach courses in Christian Studies and/or Pastoral Leadership according to graduate training and experience. Classes may include New Testament History, Christian Doctrine, and Expository Preaching. A normal teaching load is 24 credits each year.
Advise students as needed.
Stay abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment.
Contribute to the field of Christian Studies, Pastoral Leadership and/or the profession of college-level teaching.
Support the mission, goals and objectives of Crown College
Engage in general faculty responsibilities including but not limited to: participation in department and faculty meetings, care of students, Crown College committee assignments, and at least 10 hours of scheduled office hours per week to be available to students.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated experience and expertise teaching Christian Studies and/or Pastoral Leadership courses at the college level
Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education
Established ability to work effectively as a team member
Demonstrate excellence in spoken, written and electronic communication skills
Ability to integrate collegiate teaching and the Christian faith
Experience evaluating students’ work and reporting results promptly
Agreement and personal alignment with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s level degree in Christian Studies, Pastoral Leadership, or a related field
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
Work experience in Christian Studies and/or Pastoral Leadership
Experience using computer technology in the teaching/learning process

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):

MDiv, ThD, PhD, or the equivalent from an Evangelical seminary or graduate school
Ordination or Consecration in the Christian and Missionary Alliance
5+ years of full-time teaching experience, especially in Christian higher education
