Gordon-Conwell is a multi-denominational evangelical Protestant seminary, unique with its broad array of over 1,400 students and 25 faculty from 50 countries and 75 denominations. Our four campuses presently include a residential and commuter campus in Hamilton, MA; an urban campus offering classes in multiple languages in Boston, MA; networked digital educational models housed in Charlotte, NC, and Jacksonville, FL, in addition to online and cohort models involving students from around the world. Rooted in the gospel and God’s Word, the seminary seeks to develop Christian ministers and leaders who are thoughtful, kind, spiritually mature, globally aware, faithful and fearless in the proclamation of God’s Word, and ready for a broad array of ministries to serve and equip the Church of Christ. We are historically orthodox and evangelical, and we seek to address the issues of our times with both relevance to the culture and faithfulness to Christ and God’s truthful Word. Position Summary The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Old Testament from an accredited institution and has significant teaching experience and publication record in the field of Old Testament. The candidate would be someone who desires to train men and women for leadership in a wide range of contexts, through academic teaching, mentoring, and discipleship relationships. The candidate will be able to integrate their area of expertise with the various ministry contexts for which our students are being prepared. The candidate will also exhibit a deep commitment to the church, demonstrated in active local church involvement, and genuine personal integrity. Above all, the candidate should exhibit a love of God and an embrace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The professor will carry full teaching responsibilities at the Hamilton Campus but will also be expected to teach digitally in our networked education model and at our other campuses, as needed. The professor will be expected to teach master's level courses and ideally supervise and teach in our anticipated PhD program. The total teaching load is six courses a year (three credits each). Additional responsibilities include research and publication, service on committees, participation in the life of the seminary through advising, mentoring/discipling, and attendance at all required meetings.
