The College

Moore College is an evangelical theological college based in Newtown, an inner-city suburb of Sydney. The College prepares men and women for a lifetime of Christian ministry and mission through in-depth biblical and theological training conducted in the context of a Christian community. Its flagship course is 4 year full-time residential BD, but It provides a range of full-time/part-time, face-to-face and distance courses, from diploma to doctoral level, equipping students to love and serve God and people. The College has a significant role in the life of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney and many of its faculty are ordained Anglicans who are involved in churches in the diocese as well as other diocesan organizations. Providing the ministers for Anglican churches in Sydney, as well as pastors for other denominations and Christian workers for other settings, the College has around 600 enrolled students. Additionally, each year hundreds of students are enrolled across the world studying by correspondence.

The Position

A lecturer at Moore participates in the College community primarily as a teacher and pastor, but is also involved in research, academic administration and the life of the churches we serve. Faculty members live alongside students and model Christian discipleship as well as pastoring and mentoring them.

The successful candidate will have
• strong evangelical and reformed theological convictions consistent with the College’s published values
• a PhD or equivalent in the field of Reformation history and theology
• an ability to teach at a tertiary level within the fields of Christian thought (theology, ethics, church history) and church history
• proven personal and pastoral skills (preferably some time spent in paid parish ministry)
• demonstrable research ability
• current Working with Children Check

The successful candidate will be an ordained Anglican who is able to be licensed by the Archbishop of Sydney. Ideally they will be able to commence duties at the commencement of second semester in 2018.

Teaching experience in undergraduate and/or adult education contexts and previous pastoral ministry experience will be an advantage.
