2022 Southeast Meeting Overview

2022 Southeast Region Meeting Information

Authority in Pauline Churches

The BJU Seminary faculty and staff are delighted to welcome ETS members and guests to our campus for the Southeast Regional meeting March 25th and 26th, 2022. We regret that our original speaker, Andreas Köstenberger, will no longer be able to attend. However, we are happy to announce that Benjamin Merkle will now be serving as our keynote speaker.

Dr. Merkle is the M. O. Owens Chair of New Testament Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he teaches New Testament and Greek and serves as the editor for the Southeastern Theological Review. He is the author or editor of over 30 books, including publications in NT Ecclesiology such as 40 Questions about Elders and Deacons and Why Elders? Dr. Merkle is graciously stepping away from a writing sabbatical to present three lectures on “Authority in Pauline Churches” that will explore Paul’s view of the authority of the congregation, elders, and deacons in the local church.

There will also be a casual Q&A time after the Friday evening meal and keynote address. This will be a great time not only to direct questions to our speaker but also for faculty and students from various schools to connect and make new acquaintances.

As usual, we also invite faculty and student papers. We are especially interested in papers on the subject of biblical theology, but papers on other topics are welcome too.

Deadline for paper submission, February 18, 2022.

Please see the information below to register for the meeting and submit paper proposals.
