2024 Evangelical Theological Society Southeast Regional Meeting

Theme: Why Deuteronomy Still Matters

* Dr. Richter is the Robert H. Gundry Chair of Biblical Studies at Westmont College. Known and respected for her work in several areas (e.g., Deuteronomy, the Deuteronomistic History, Isaiah, Hebrew language, ANE cultural context, and environmental theology), Dr. Richter brings the Old Testament to life by exploring the real people and places found therein.

** ETS members of any rank are welcome to propose papers for the conference. These may follow the conference theme or deal with other areas of Bible and theology. The deadline for paper proposals will be January 3, 2024. Please see the information below to register for the meeting and submit paper proposals.

Paper proposals: ETS members of any rank and any region are welcome to submit a paper proposal. Please email your proposal with your name, title of paper, and institution to ETS@tfc.edu no later than January 3, 2024.

Student Paper Competition: Student ETS members attending schools within the Southeast region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) are invited to enter a completed paper for the competition. Papers 15–20 pages in length must be submitted (by January 3, 2024) as a PDF document to the email address above. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place papers ($250, $150, $100, respectively).

Location, Meals, and Accommodations
The Southeast Regional meeting will take place on the campus of Toccoa Falls College, located at 107 Kincaid Dr., Toccoa Falls, GA 30598. Check-in and Registration open at 11:00 AM in Gate Cottage. Please follow signage to parking on campus.

Lunch is available for purchase in the TFC Cafeteria or Eagle’s Nest on Friday. For other meal options, there are several restaurants just a few minutes away from campus.

For overnight lodging, we have two places with reserved rooms and special rates for conference attendees.

Hampton Inn Cornelia is located about 20 minutes away (161 market Corners, Cornelia, GA 30531), with rates starting at $119 (includes breakfast and free wifi).

Country Hearth Inn & Suites Toccoa is located just a few minutes from campus (273 North Broad Street, Tocca, GA 30577), with rates starting at $72. (Discount good up until January 2.)

Call for Papers:

The 2024 Southeast Regional Meeting of the Evangelical Philosophical Society will take place at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA, from Friday to Saturday, February 23-24.

R.T. Mullins will serve as the plenary speaker, addressing the intriguing question:
“Why Would God Create Anything At All? A Question Classical Theism Cannot Answer.”

Paper Submissions:

We welcome papers/abstract submissions or proposals for panel discussions on any topic of interest to Christian philosophers.

Submission Information:
