2025 Northwest Region Meeting Overview

Plenary Speaker:
Dr. Nijay Gupta, Professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary (Lisle,
IL). He will speak twice on the following: “Have We Missed the Center of Paul’s Theology? The
Heart of the Gospel Hidden in Plain Sight.” These lectures come from a soon-to-be-published
monograph with Eerdmans where Gupta attempts to bring together multiple (and seemingly
competing) approaches to Paul’s theology under one key heading. This will be a timely message
for Christian communities and institutions that are often at war with one another, underscoring
difference and rivalry rather than common faith in Christian and generous unity.
Dr. Gupta (PhD, University of Durham) has written several academic books, including A Beginner’s Guide to New Testament Studies, Paul and the Language of Faith, 15 New Testament Words of Life, and Strange Religion: How the First Christians Were Weird, Dangerous, and Compelling. He has co-edited The State of New Testament Studies, Dictionary of Paul and His Letters (2nd ed.), and The State of Pauline Studies. He has also published commentaries on Philippians, Colossians, 1& 2 Thessalonians, and Galatians. Nijay co-chairs the Pauline Theology seminar of the Institute for Biblical Research and serves as a senior translator for the New Living Translation.
